We have owned a Nissan Leaf for two years now and I find the smooth, quiet performance of an electric car makes it far superior to a gas one. We are very happy with it. After contributions from the sun and our solar panels, it only costs us about $7 a month, on average, to run the Leaf. The range is about 100 miles and we have a second hybrid car for longer distances. But for local trips the Leaf is better. The down side? Range is always a consideration for longer trips though with charging stations and online information it can be extended. Running the heater constantly and driving over 65 mph will also reduce range so we are always aware of those issues. But I would definitely recommend the Leaf for most day-to-day trips or as a commuting car.
