SUMMARY:Concord Celebrates Sun Day
DESCRIPTION:Rise Up for a Sun-Powered Planet! \nJoin us for a fun\, inspiring and free event as we celebrate Sun Day in Concord. Sun Day is a nation-wide day of action on September 21\, 2025\, celebrating solar and wind power\, and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Here in Concord\, Sun Day will celebrate our town-wide progress to power our community with clean affordable energy. Concord residents\, businesses and Town departments are fighting climate change and saving money by installing solar panels\, using heat pumps\, and switching to electric lawn equipment and electric vehicles. Thousands of Concordians have made the transition to harnessing the power of the sun for their homes and transportation. And you can\, too. \nLearn about local\, sustainable energy! \nEvery choice we make to use clean energy matters. Clean energy helps protect the people and places we love from the ravages of climate change. It saves money and makes our homes more comfortable\, all year long. It says “yes” to energy independence\, clean air and clean water\, and “NO!” to science deniers and polluting fossil fuels. \nSun Day in Concord is an easy way to explore clean energy options for your next purchase of a car or appliance. Learn about available incentives and rebates to help you transition to sustainable homes and transportation. Hear how your neighbors and other residents made the decision to power up with solar energy or to capitalize on Concord’s green electricity to reduce their utility bills. And take the opportunity to talk to an experienced energy coach who will answer your questions\, and help you understand your options – at no charge! \nMake Art that Revolves Around the Sun! \nBring the whole family for fun art activities\, music\, giant puppets and more. Local arts groups will offer hands-on art projects for participants of all ages. Add your own creative expression to a large community-created quilt that celebrates our sun-powered future. And join us in a community singalong of popular songs about the sun. \nCelebrate with Us! \nCome join the event between 2:00 and 4:00pm on September 21. To RSVP (for our planning purposes) please sign up for the event here. \nFor more information \nIf you want to have your organization participate\, please contact Scott Richardson (scott@longwoodsoftware.com). If you have questions about attending\, please contact Brad Hubbard Nelson (bradhn@mindspring.com) \nSun Day is sponsored by Concord’s Climate Action Committee\, the Concord Municipal Light Plant\, Mother’s Out Front\, the First Parish Environmental Team and others.
